Lactation difficulties are not completely prevented by using PDF; you are rested and eating properly, your baby is getting enough food and growing, and your life is relatively predictable. So you might think that youre immune from production issues, right? There are many more factors which play in to milk production that just the ones I listed.

Factors that can affect milk supply include:

 Amount of sleep a mother receives
 Moms diet & nutrition
 Her state of mind
 Mothers age
 Whether this is her first child or sixth
 Moms desire to breastfeed
 Her capacity to nurse
 A mothers nursing techniques
 Her babys ability to properly latch on

If youre nursing, keeping tabs on your babys growth is incredibly importantyour babys life depends on it. How will you know if hes getting enough milk or nutrition? Unfortunately, the breast tissue isnt transparent and we cannot see exactly how much milk your baby is drinking or your body is producing. Fortunately, there are other ways to achieve our goal.

In the first week of life, your baby will receive colostrum before your milk comes in. Not only is this rich in antibodies and helps your babys immune system develop, but it helps him pass his first stoolmeconium. This is a black, tarry substance and will be in the first diaper or two after birth. He will transition to a brown substance and then as your milk comes in, to a mustard yellow stool that is watery or loose. A bottle-fed baby will pass stools that are firmer and more clay-coloured than a breastfed baby.

Within 24-48 hours, your baby should start having wet diapers, increasing to two or three per day.

As your baby works at sucking colostrum and then milk, you should hear a pattern of suck, suck, suck, swallow. This will be rhythmic and there will be no clicking noisesclicking indicates that your baby is improperly latched and potentially isnt getting a good amount of milk from you. If you hear this, unlatch him from your breast and re-attach him. If it continues, talk to your pediatrician.

In the second and subsequent weeks of life, you should also notice 6-8 wet diapers a day in addition to at least 3 stools per day. His urine should be clear (not yellow), and he should be gaining alertness as each day passes. He should also be growing and gaining weightweight gain is the surest sign of healthy growth. Any two days in a row of deviation from the growth indicators listed should be reported to your pediatrician immediately.

Congratulations you have a new baby! Having a new baby is hard enough but when you choose to breastfeed you sometimes feel that you made this experience even harder. Breastfeeding is not as difficult as it looks or as you may have heard from others. It is actually pretty easy and a very fulfilling way to nourish your newborn once you get the hang of it. Remember as with most things practice makes perfect! Breastfeeding is new to you and to your little one but with a little practice you two will become pros in no time!

During the first week of your babys life, your breasts will produce colostrum for your baby to drink. Colostrum is rich in antibodies and aids the babys immune system. It also helps him pass his first bowel movement, which is called meconium. Meconium is black and tarry looking and is in the first few diapers after birth. Then he begins to transition to a brown substance and after your milk comes in, it becomes a yellow, mustardy stool that is loose and watery. Bottle-fed babies pass firmer, tannish stools than breastfed babies.

After 24-48 hours after birth, your baby will start having wet diapers that will increase to two or three a day.

Your technique and positioning is a very important factor in ensuring that your breastfeeding experience is a great one. There are a few different positions that can be used to make the experience more comfortable for you and baby. Some of these positions include:

Laying down – Lay down on you side with pillows behind you to support your back. Lay baby facing you with her head on a pillow your breast should be level with babys mouth. Bend your legs with a pillow between your knees and then have baby latch on.

Sitting Up Sit up either in bed or a comfortable chair or couch with pillows supporting your back and head. Place a pillow on your lap and put baby on top of the pillow in your arms, you can rest your arms on the pillow to make it easier to bring baby up to your breast. Bend your knees to make this even easier have baby latch on.

The Clutch Hold This is also known as the football hold. This position is also good when nursing twins as it allows mom to have a baby on each side. Sit down and tuck your baby under your arm almost like a handbag. Rest babys head on a firm pillow on your lap. Ensure that babys feet are behind your back. Your hand is at the back of babys neck, not on babys head. Your arm will extend down babys back , guide baby to latch on

These are just a few of the positions that you can use there is also the cradle hold, clutch hold, and the transition position. Do some research to learn these other positions to nurse your baby if you find the above positions uncomfortable.

While your baby drinks colostrum and then milk, you should listen for a pattern of suck, suck, suck, swallow. This pattern will be rhythmic and there should be no clicking noises. The clicking sound can indicate that your baby is not properly latched on and may not be getting enough milk from you. If you start to hear this, you need to unlatch him and then reattach him. If you continue to hear this sound after reattaching him several times, then you may want to consult a lactation consultant or your pediatrician.

After the first week of life, you should see 6-8 wet diapers each day and at least 3 bowel movements a day. His urine should be clear and he should become more alert with each passing day. Your baby should also be gaining weight and growing, as this is the surest way to tell that they are getting enough nutrition. If you have two days in a row that deviates from the above indicators, then you should call your pediatrician immediately.

Breastfeeding problems, such as milk production difficulties, are not as common when using the PDF feeding method, but they do occur. Even if you are well rested, eating healthy, have a pretty routine life, and your baby is growing and getting enough food, you still may experience a milk production issue. Many things can cause production problems. Here are just a few.

Some things that can affect your milk supply are:

What mom eats
How much mom rests and sleeps
Her state of mind
The age of the mom
How many children you have
Your desire to breastfeed
Your nursing capabilities
Your nursing techniques
Babys latch on abilities

If you choose to breastfeed, it is very important that you take your baby for their check-ups as needed. If you dont, how will you know if he is getting enough milk and growing at the correct rate? There is no way for you to tell that your child is getting enough nutrition for sure without your child being weighed.

Breastfeeding Is Best For Your Baby

Posted by admin

Breastfeeding is without any doubt the most excellent means to nourish your newly born baby. It has got a lot of benefits as compared to feeding with a bottle and barely any drawbacks. More than one million babies pass away every year because of being given formula!

Breast milk makes available just the right nutrition, which your baby requires and also shields them from any diseases. Research has established that to a large extent kids who were breast-fed acquire a lesser rate of allergies, diarrhea, rashes, ear infectivity, hospital admittance and additional medical troubles than kids who were given formula.

Formula for a baby is prepared from the milk of a cow. However the trouble with formula is that it includes a separate kind of protein than the human milk and it does not include the appropriate nutrition, which babies require as well. Human babies have difficulty in processing this particular protein and consequently they are more often than not a great deal fatter than babies who are breast fed. Breast milk has got at least a hundred constituents that are not present in formula.

When a child is being breast fed by the mother, the antibodies of the mother are moreover transmitted to the infant. This shields the infant from ailments and sicknesses such as bronchitis, pneumonia, influenza, botulism, staphylococcal infections, ear infections and measles. About 80 % of the cells that are present in breast milk are cells, which destroy fungi, bacteria and viruses!

Contrasting to feeding from a bottle, breast feeding lets the mother embrace her infant close to her many times every day. The baby would feel a sensation of safety because of this and would make a better bonding with the mom. Nursing is a measure of reassurance and affection for a baby.

If you are thinking of breast feeing your baby, you ought to be conscious that it can be a bit hurting when you begin to do it for the first time. In addition, the nipples might get engorged, cracked, or sore. You will have to feed on a regular basis or your breasts would feel a bit tender for the reason of being a lot full. You would be a lot more attached to your kid rather than a mother who feeds formula.

After you have had the baby, you are supposed to breast feed in a little while, if possible amid one hour of delivery. You will not be making milk up till now however you would be having colostrum that is a liquid that consists of antibodies against any ailments. Newborn babies have to be fed no less than every 2 hours. When they grow a little older they would fall on a more normal schedule.

If you have become a new mother you would surely wish to provide the baby the most excellent care you can. Breast milk is the way you could do this. Breast milk consists of the whole lot that your baby requires and would make him a great deal healthier and happier.

As your little one reaches the age of five or six months, its time to start thinking about introducing semi-solid foods into his or her diet. Before then, mother’s milk is the best food for a baby. Breast milk is easy to digest and provides a rich supply of vitamins and disease-fighting antibodies for the baby. It also fosters a close bonding experience between the baby and his or her mother.

While most mothers have enough milk to satiate their little ones hunger, the decision to breastfeed is a deeply personal one. Breastfeeding may not be preferable to all women. For mothers who cant breastfeed or who decide not to, baby formula is a healthy alternative.

Babies should be fed with semi-solids only after the rooting or sucking instinct leaves them. This happens by the fifth or sixth month. At first feeding time will be messy, and probably frustrating, as your baby gets used to the unfamiliar taste and texture of baby food. Some babies will cry because they cannot get food fast enough, while others will spit out the alien texture of semi-solid food. Lots of patience is needed until your baby develops a taste and appetite for the new kinds of food you are introducing into his or her diet.

Its a good idea to keep the use of store-bought jarred or tinned foods to the minimum. Many of them have additives, extra starch and high levels of sugar. If you decide to make your own baby food, hygiene should be your first concern, followed by nutrition.

- Rinse all equipment with hot water.
- Boil utensils such as spoons, knives and mashers.
- Do not store cooked food in the refrigerator for prolonged periods.
- Discard any leftover baby food, as bacteria forms quickly in unfinished meals.
- Make sure that you introduce new items slowly and in small doses.
- Start with baby cereal; then introduce vegetables and fruits; and then start introducing meats.

When you start introducing semi-solid foods to your baby, he or she should be reasonably hungry by mealtime, but not overly hungry. The first semi solid food all my children started with was iron-fortified infant rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula. After that I started introducing vegetables; then fruits; then meats.

At the beginning, babies should have finely pureed foods, as they get a little older and have both upper and lower teeth for chewing, introduce foods that are a little chunkier. As your baby grows, introduce a wider variety of food. If he rejects something, replace it with something else. You can introduce the rejected item after a few weeks or a month.

Although the baby food you make yourself at home is best, not all parents have the time to make homemade baby food. There are some good commercial choices on the market today. Baby food manufacturers understand parents want wholesome baby food for their parents. There are several all natural and organic baby food choices now available to parents foods that are a safe and healthy alternative to homemade.

Benefits Of Breast Feeding

Posted by admin

Once you’ve given birth, breast feeding is the single
most important thing you can do to protect your baby
and help to promote good health. Best of all, breast
feeding is free.

Along with saving you money on HMR (Human Milk
Replacement), breast feeding can also help you to
keep your medical bills down. Babies that are fed
with formula get sicker more often and more seriously
than babies that are breast fed They also have more
ear infections, respiratory infections, and other
problems.

This can be even more true if your family has had a
history of allergies. When a baby is breast fed, the
antibodies pass on from the mother to the baby,
helping to protect against illness and allergies. As
the baby’s system matures, his body will begin to
make it’s own antibodies, and he’ll be more equipped
to handle sensitivities of food.

Sucking on the breast will also help with the
development or jaw alignment and the development of
the cheekbone. For this very reason, there is less
of the need for costly orthodontic work when the
child gets older.

Unlike formula, breast milk is always ready, always
available, convenient, and always the right temperature
for feeding. Plus, it contains all of the vitamins
and minerals your growing baby needs, saving you a
lot of money.

Breast feeding also offers many benefits for the mom
as well. The baby sucking at the breast will cause
contractions right after birth, leading to less
bleeding for the mom, and helping her uterus to it’s
shape before pregnancy much faster.

Breast feeding will also burn calories, so a mom can
lose weight much faster than if she fed her baby with
a bottle. Breast feeding will also create a special
bond with the mother and the baby – which is one
thing formula simpy cannot do.

It is normal for your little kids to get fever, cough, or cold once in a while. However, don’t let the virus and bacteria disrupt their development.

Therefore, boost your kids’ immune system by doing these smart habits:

1. Breastfeeding

There’s no doubt that breast milk provides the best and complete nutrition for babies ever since they were born. The yellow colostrums, which come out in the early days after the labor, are proved to have antibodies that can protect babies from many illnesses, such as diarrhea and meningitis.

2. Consuming Fruits and Veggies

Fruits and vegetables are great sources of vitamins and minerals, as well as other nutrients to boost your kids’ health. Having them in daily menu will prevent your loved ones from infection.

3. Making Hygiene as a Way of Life

Washing their hands with soap is a very good start. Always do it before having meals, after using bathroom, after playing, and after handling their pets.

4. Having Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep can lead to the decline of body’s immunity. Taking a nap everyday is a good way to make your children have enough sleep. If they refuse it, put them to bed earlier in the evening.

5. Doing Exercises or Outdoor Activities

Ask them to join you doing exercises or enjoy playing outside together because these activities will increase your kids’ endurance. Playing soccer, hiking, and swimming are examples of exciting activities you can do with them.

6. Saying No to Tobacco

Smoking is so unhealthy. The smoke is even more damaging. If you or any other adults in the house smoke, better let go that bad habit for the sake of your kids’ health.

Simple habits, right? Yet you probably don’t recognize how important they are for your kids’ fitness. Talk about this with your spouse and both of you can start a new beginning with healthier kids and family.

Caring for your baby is certainly one of the most important things you need to consider once you became a new parent. There are many things you need to take into account in order to make sure that your baby gets all the attention.

1. Make sure that you feed your baby right. Deciding on whether you should breastfeed or bottle-feed your baby greatly depends on your personal decision and what your physician recommends. However, it has been shown that breastfeeding is still the best way to nourish newborn babies. Lots of benefits can be obtained through breastfeeding. Some medical studies have determined that breastfed infants have less hypersensitivity later in life compared with those who were raised with bottle feeding. This is mainly because the mothers milk is known to contain natural enzymes and antibodies that can help fortify the babys immunity against infirmities. Aside from this, some doctors also believed that breast milk is responsible for superior intellect as he/she grows and becomes fully developed.

2. Practical sleep aid tips for infants. Sleep is crucial for babies because it has a direct effect on the childs mental and physical growth. Newborn babies sleep for up to 17 and 18 hours a day. Parents should understand that babies sleep cycle could be pretty erratic. You may notice for a few weeks, your babys sleep may only last from approximately 30 minutes to 3 hours, and this can vary throughout a 24 period. But by the sixth week, you should see some signs of improvement as your babys sleep pattern becomes more structured. Newborns show signs of sleepiness by crying or rubbing their eyes. Newborns should be put down to sleep as soon as they feel sleepy. If you are not getting much sleep at night it may be a good idea to sleep when your baby does during the day if possible.

3. The proper way of bathing your newborn. Newborn babies need not be bathed on a daily basis. Bathing them two to three times a week is enough. Bathe your baby using sponge baths. This is imperative at first. Tub bathing your baby can only be done once the babys umbilical cord falls off to avoid infection.

4. Maintaining your babys optimal skin care. Newborn babies have smooth and delicate skin. For this reason, it is necessary that you use products that are especially made for babies. But before buying any baby product, it is best to consult your pediatrician. Most babies develop rashes from time to time and this is perfectly normal. However, if your baby seems irritated by a rash or has a fever, you should immediately seek advice from your babys doctor.

5. When to give the baby medicine. Like anyone else, newborn babies sometimes have special needs that require attention. When giving your baby medicine, it is important that you follow the advice of your babys physician. You need to know how to give the right dose prescribed by the doctor. It can sometimes be advised to start the baby with a small dose to ensure there is no adverse reaction to the medication.
