There are many themes you can choose from when planning a babys nursery. Probably one of the most popular and beloved themes for a babys room is Winnie the Pooh. A Winnie the Pooh nursery theme is a great choice for many reasons. First, it works great for a boy or a girl. If you dont know your babys gender or if you are planning to have more children, a Winnie the Pooh baby nursery is the perfect fit. Another reason a Winnie the Pooh room is a good option is that due to the popularity of it, you will have no trouble looking a wide selection of Pooh baby bedding and other Pooh themed nursery items such as art work, rugs, hampers, and lamps. You will even have your choice of regular Pooh or Classic Pooh.

Here are some ideas for decorating a Winnie the Pooh themed baby nursery:

Find a Pooh baby bedding set that you like and buy all the coordinating items that you would like to use. Items that you can usually find to match you nursery bedding include window valances, a hamper, table lamp, and crib mobile.

Decide how you would like to prepare the walls in your Pooh nursery. You could simply paint them white or a color that compliments your Pooh bedding. Another option is to use a Winnie the Pooh wallpaper and/or a wall paper border on the walls. Stenciling Pooh and his friends on the wall is another cute option. For something really dramatic, you could hire an artist to paint a mural of the 100 acre woods on one wall of the nursery. This is an expensive option, so if you have a tight budget for planning you babys room, you will want to consider other options such as purchasing Winnie the Pooh wall stickers to accent the walls.

Finish up the room by adding the little touches that make it cozy. A nice Winnie the Pooh rug will warm up the floor. Dcor for the wall can include Winnie the Pooh art work or wall hangings. The baby quilt from the Pooh bedding set could be hung on the wall as a wall hanging since it is too bulky to use for a newborn baby. You may want to add some Winnie the Pooh touches to the nursery furniture as well. Pooh knobs could be added to the dresser and Pooh could be added to the ends of the crib by stenciling, painting, or applying decals of Pooh to it.

When planning your Winnie the Pooh nursery, keep an eye out for items you can use. Pooh merchandise is available all over the place so you may find things you can use in your room in the most unexpected places. Also dont feel that you have to use only Pooh dcor in the room. Non-Pooh items may also fit nicely and compliment your rooms dcor. Just use your imagination to be creative and you will be able to create a wonderful room for your new baby.

The ultimate luxury for you and your baby is custom baby bedding. When you are decorating the babys nursery, you may have a crib size that is non-standard or an absolutely different wall finish or wallpaper that does not match with bedding that is readily available. So you can try to find custom baby bedding either on-line or in a store near your home. You will see that the price of custom bedding is not very high even frequently less than full-blown designer sets.

The primary importance should be given to the babys comfort and safety when considering custom baby bedding. The fabric used should be washable again and again, colorfast, durable, and it should be 100% cotton. A nice feature would be resistance to stain. Things like fringe or appliqu should be best avoided because they may get loose easily and enter the babys mouth causing choking. Chenille is a fabric, which may appear to be more desirable, but you should give it a miss in favor of smoother and simpler fabrics.

Know your options when you are out shopping for your baby. Get the price of baby beddings from different designers and also ask them if you have any query. If you provide the designer with your own fabric, then you can do so. Then the designer must reduce the final cost of the baby bedding as per the calculations. The baby should feel comfortable do not loose sight of the fact by putting more stress on style. As an instance an infant does not need pillows, so skip it. There is a debate about crib bumpers some think it is important to keep the baby away from the hard surface of the crib, and some think that it poses a similar threat of choking like the pillows.

So keep your eyes open about costs, get a reputed designer and be prepared. It may take four to six weeks to finally get hold of the completed baby bedding, but it will be worth the wait when you it is going to be according to your choice in terms of concept, color and fabric.

Do You Have the Right Bedding for Your Baby ?

While the birth of a baby is the most exceptional experience in any woman’s life, it is after the birth of the child that the real work begins. There are many skills that a new mother will have to learn and learn quickly ; bottles, diapers and childhood diseases are only a few. Choosing the proper bedding for your baby will be one of the critical decisions you have to make. Common sense and experts both agree that the primary factor in choosing the bedding needs to be safety. Proper bedding is absolutely critical for the safety and comfort of your baby.
To provide both comfort and safety it is imperative that the bedding not be too hard or too soft, improper bedding has been suspected as a possible cause in many cases of sudden infant death syndrome. This has normally been attributed to a very soft mattress. If the mattress is too soft it can cause the infant’s mouth and nose to be covered. If this happens then the baby is inhaling the same air they exhale. This can cause a rapid build of carbon dioxide in the babies system. Excessive carbon dioxide can cause drowsiness, coma and even death.
Baby beds come in a large selection of varieties and styles, regardless of the baby bed used it is critical that the bedding properly match the bed. The three types of baby beds are: bassinet, cradle and cribs. It is fairly easy to distinguish between the different types of beds? Bassinets are oblong or round baskets that serve as a bed for infants. A crib is a small bed that has very high side walls or railings. The purpose of he high sides or rails is to protect your baby or toddler. Since they can be used until the child is around two years old, cribs are usually considered the more economical choice. A cradle is a small low bed that is normally mounted on rockers, cradles are only good while the child is still an infant. In all of these the material used to make the bed will help indicate what precautions need to be taken.
In a bassinet the bedding needs to provide enough space that the baby can roll from side to side. Bassinets are usually full of lacing and trimming which can reduce the actual available space for the baby. Cradles come in a variety of shapes and sized, one advantage of the cradle is that it can be rocked to help soothe the baby. There is normally not much bedding used inside of a cradle. Cribs are normally square so you can get a mattress that perfectly fits the dimensions of your crib. The mattress is normally covered with a coverlet and or blankets. You can also include pillows to make your baby more comfortable. Caution should be used not to fill the crib with too many pillows or the baby can stand on them and fall and hurt themselves. Any of the styles of beds can be safely used to keep your child save and comfortable.
Once you have determined what type of bedding will correctly fit the equipment you have the only other consideration is the pattern and style that you find pleasing.

If youre a new parent looking for bed supplies for your new baby, youll likely wonder whether you should buy a cradle or a bassinet. And then youll ask yourself what the differences are between a bassinet and a cradle. Many people tend to lump the two together, but there are some differences that new parents should be aware of.

Bassinets

Much of the time, bassinets are made of natural fibers like wicker and tend to be more portable than cradles. Bassinets are great for parents who travel a lot, live in a house with more than one floor, or are very active. In addition, they are usually smaller and lighter than a cradle, but the sizes do vary. Bassinet bedding can either be purchased or custom made to fit the requirements and tastes of the parents; new parents need to be aware that though there are similarities between Bassinets and cradles, they take different mattresses, sheets, and bedding.

Cradles

Cradles are usually larger than bassinets and more stationary. They are usually made of wood and manufactured materials. Cradles come in many forms and with differing functions. There is a portable cradle that is smaller and more manageable that you can take on an extended visit to family or friends. Cradles are usually manufactured with a mechanism that will produce a side-to-side motion designed to comfort your baby and help them sleep. Most cradles have two floor rockers that allow a side-to-side rocking motion; others come with the frame suspended on hooks and gently sway rather than rock your baby. Baby bedding for cradles follows the same rules as bassinets: the bedding between the two is not interchangeable, so make sure you get the appropriate bedding for your choice of baby bed.

Whether you purchase a bassinet or cradle, remember to always buy a firm mattress that fits snugly and fits properly. You should not be able to stick more than two fingers between mattress and the side of the cradle or bassinet. Look for legs with strong locks to avoid fold-ins, smooth surfaces without wicker particles or outside hardware, and a sturdy, stable base that is both appropriate for the babys weight and wide enough to remain stable, especially in the case of a rocking cradle.

Ensuring your child has an easy transition into the world is hard enough without having to worry about how well they will sleep at night, Both bassinets and cradles are excellent choices for those with new babyssimply follow the guidelines and proper use for the cradle or bassinet, buy the correct baby sheets, bumpers, and liners, and buy the correct mattress. Figure out which option best suits your lifestyle and move ahead, confident and secure in the fact that your child will soon be sleeping safely and soundly in their new bed.

New parents are full of concerns about what regular household activities may pose a threat or present problems for their newest family member. At some point the question about the best ways to wash baby clothing will arise. Parents typically ask whether there is a certain type off detergent that they should use, whether it is safe to wash baby clothes with the rest of the family’s clothing and what special steps should be taken with cloth diapers if they are being used.

Detergent

This is a valid concern. It is not atypical for certain detergents to irritate the skin of adults and older children, so it is certainly feasible that a baby’s tender and sensitive skin can be easily irritated by harsh detergents. There are several detergents on the market that are supposedly intended for baby’s clothing, but there is not much difference between them and other mild detergents. The best choice for parents to make in this area is to purchase mild detergent that is free from added colors and fragrances and wash the clothing in that. If the baby does develop a rash or seems to be experiencing skin discomfort of any kind, the first thing to do is consult the family pediatrician. The doctor may simply recommend that a different detergent be used, but will also be able to determine if there is a more serious problem.

Washing Baby Clothes with Family Clothes

Some parents feel that the baby’s clothing needs to be washed separately from that of the rest of the family. The rationale for this is that the other family members’ clothing could somehow taint or contaminate the baby’s. There is no reason to worry about this and it is perfectly safe to wash baby’s clothes and bedding along with everyone else’s. The exception to this rule is cloth diapers. If parents are using cloth diapers and washing them at home rather than using a diaper service, they must be washed apart from everything else.

Cloth Diapers

Cloth diapers are fading into memory, replaced by the more convenient disposable brands that are on the market. For families that choose to use these, however, there are some special considerations. The most sanitary way to utilize reusable cloth diapers is to contract a diaper service. This will take away the hassle of washing the diapers at home and ensure that the replacement diapers are sterile. For families that choose to wash at home, the previous paragraph details that they should be kept separate from all other laundry. Storing the diapers until wash time must be done as sanitarily as possible. This means rinsing the cloth diaper in the toilet to remove solid wastes, then storing it in a pail until it is time to be washed. The pail should be covered to prevent odor and lined with a disposable or washable liner. The pail, lid, and liner should be cleaned whenever the diapers are and the soiled diapers should be washed at least twice weekly.

When a new baby is on its way, the first thing a new parent thinks about is how to make the baby most comfortable when they arrive into their new world. A lot of effort goes into building the perfect nest; i.e., nursery, and one of the most important items in a nursery is a babys bedding. Because babies are so susceptible to their surrounding environment, where and how a baby sleeps can make all the difference in how they rest.

It is important to invest wisely in proper baby bedding. This means materials that are soft, resilient, light, and warm on a babys skin, and sheets that fit as snugly as possible over a firm, snug mattress. This also means no quilts, comforters or pillows, as they are considered risk factors in sudden infant death syndrome. There are two options when buying baby bedding: pre-made baby bedding and custom baby bedding.

Pre-made baby bedding is a great, cost effective way to buy for your baby. If you do decide to use pre-made baby bedding, a good idea is to pick the bedding before anything else in the nursery or bedroom. This way you can design around the bedding, which often makes it easier to manage.

The problem many new parents face is that they may not be able to find exactly what they want, and will put it off, looking for the perfect match for a nursery or bedroom theme. Pretty soon the baby comes along, and the parents still havent chosen the bedding; they are now rushing to throw something together, and are unhappy with what they get. While this isnt always the case, it is for many people. Others are happy and find what they need quickly, but for those that are having trouble, there is always custom-made baby bedding.

Custom baby bedding is great, especially if you cant find a material you want, a pattern you like, or design element you require. Custom baby bedding can be manufactured to any and all specifications you have, and that is what makes it so great. You have full say in layout, looks and design, ensuring the uniqueness of your baby bedding and your happiness with finding exactly what you need.

This also creates less stress, because you will pick your design and layout, order it, and wait for it to arrive. This save saves you time and energy that can be better spent elsewhere. While you may fear that custom-made bedding is very expensive, many manufacturers are very reasonable, and are worth at least a call or an email.

Buying baby bedding is a very personal and individual experience for most people, and getting exactly what you want is important. Whether you decide on pre-made or custom baby bedding, the most important thing is that you are happy and satisfied with your choice. Make sure you do the research and find out what materials are out there (cotton jersey is a great one) and whats available for new parents.

Many stores offer baby gift registries where the expecting parents can register and can make a list of what they require for their coming baby. To create your own customized baby gift registries could be an exciting event for many of the soon-to-be mothers. Most often, women register in their fifth or sixth month of pregnancy but they prefer to wait to a bit closer to their due date or until right before their baby shower.

Gift registries are basically an expectant mothers wish list where they can register for anything and everything that their heart desires. Using baby registries is a perfect way whereby friends and family can get for the expectant parents whatever they want and need for their new little one. If it is their first baby, they will need many things or almost everything as compared to their second or other child. Would be mothers can register for gifts to stock the nursery like furniture and baby bedding, adorable baby clothes or baby essentials like diapers and bottles. Baby registry can therefore make the lives of the expectant mother and her baby much easier with anything from necessities to luxuries.

Other benefit of a gift registry is that it is easier to find something within your budget if you are searching a gift for the mom-to-be. If the mom-to-be has a baby shower, it is possible that the name of the store where they have registered will be included in the invitation. And if it is not then you can always ask the hostess of the shower whether or not the mom-to-be is registered somewhere.

Many mom-to-be are involved in many different circles where they have more than one baby shower, they have one at work, one with friends, one with family and therefore it is important not to duplicate gifts. No one has the time to exchange things and therefore if you purchase an item from the registry you know for sure that the expectant mom does not receives two of the exact items.

Many retailers also offer their baby registries online and therefore online registries are increasingly popular and with some good reason. Registries make the gift buying process easier on your guests and shopping online also enhances the convenience.

Up until a couple weeks ago, I had never thought about baby bedding, cribs and crib safety, baby feeding supplies or any of the other countless items it takes to prepare for the arrival of our future NFL super star. I was clueless as to the magnitude of the preparations involved in having a baby, and no I have not been in a coma the last 26 years, Ive heard expecting couples and new parents talking about newborns and going on and on about crib safety and thread counts of baby bedding spewing out so many facts and stats on the subject that it reminded me of one of those sports fanatics that every neighborhood bar has, who sits there all evening stating one stat after another while you think to yourself this guy needs a life.

But heres the shocker: I caught myself yesterday engaging in one of these conversations with two other couples in an almost heated debate over whether California Kids or Kids Line Bedding has a higher thread count. This is amazing enough, but even more remarkable is the fact that I had never met either couple before that surreal moment in aisle 11 at Toys R Us where I stated material preferences and quoted safety alerts from the CPSCs website on baby bedding.

And yet its only the beginning, I now realize I am only two steps from becoming one of those diaper bag carrying, mini-van driving parents whose lazy Sunday afternoons spent reading the Times or napping at will are but a distant memory while they shuffle through their endless to do list at one of many after school events.

Scary? Heck yea! But on the other hand, I can hardly wait!

Now lets discuss something very important, Baby Bedding. Unlike bedding for adults, there are a lot of considerations in buying baby bedding like comfort and safety. The Consumer Product Safety Commission lists safety tips on baby bedding on their website at www.cpsc.gov and should be followed.

Many baby bedding; quilts and blankets that you can find for your baby are made with polyester or acrylic, plastics that, when heated by the baby’s body, can emit gases that irritate the baby’s sensitive skin and eyes!

As parents we understand how much you love your children and want the best for them. Walk into any baby supply store, or open any catalogue offering baby supplies, and you’ll be hit with adorable baby bedding designs: bedding with tiny flowers; little animals; and Disney characters, stripes, zigzags, or bugs.

Your baby will spend 60% of its first year sleeping. There is no better environment for your baby, than one provided with natural fibers, warm, comfortable, and safe baby bedding! This sounds crazy, especially when we are talking about a newborn baby who spends even more time in bed than we do!

Your baby’s nursery can be completed with a choice from a variety of different sleeping arrangements and baby bedding, including beautiful bedding sets with matching sheets, comforters, pillows, bumpers, and dust ruffles. All, of course, must be chosen with your baby’s safety and comfort as priorities. Babies should always be put to sleep on their backs.

When trying to plan for nursery decorating, it is very important to make a safe selection of baby bedding. Children are not stain-proof, but we know you’ll feel better knowing they’ll have restful sleep. Happy babies come from happy parents. But what does your baby really need beyond the most important consideration safety!
