There are many children who have problems with their speech from an early age. In this article I am going to write about the speech impediment known as stuttering.

Stuttering normally starts for people in childhood and is often referred to as a childhood stutter. This is often a very worrying time for parents and the child and it is difficult to know where to look for help. There are many different views and advice given to the parents. Some people advise to ignore the problem as it is likely to go away of its own accord in the future and that to over highlight the situation can do more damage than good. Others suggest an early course of speech therapy.

Stuttering comes in many forms. Family and friends may not even be aware that a person they know has a stuttering problem. The person who has the stutter may be a closet stutterer who is very good at hiding it. They do this by avoiding certain words or by finding alternative words. This takes a lot of effort though and it comes as more of a shock to people when the person does actually stutter.

Not all people who stutter are able to do this however and have what is seen as a more severe stutter.

A stutter would normally occur more when a person is:

under pressure

very tired

meeting new people

speaking in an uncomfortable situation

asking questions, for example asking for directions

introducing people

Stuttering therapy:

People who have a stutter have different options when seeking help. Most people would first try a speech therapist or speech pathologist. Alternatively they can attend a speech course which can be in a group or on a one to one basis.

I personally prefer and advise one to one stutter courses as I believe every person who has a stutter is an individual and has their own individual type stutter.

3. Find Easy To Put On Outfits

Sometimes you’ll struggle to dress your baby into an outfit you want him to wear. Outfits that come in several pieces, button from behind or pull over the head may require more of your patience and time. Outfits that come in one piece, open in the front, have zippers, or snap buttons should be easier to deal with.

4. Have Enough for Emergencies

You can save a bundle at the clearance racks. Almost every type of store has these. In addition, if you wait for a big sale you can save even more. Some stores will also markdown the clearance item further at the cash register.

6. Accept Hand Me Downs

Your family and friends may want to give you their children’s baby clothes. They may have new clothes that their baby didn’t have a chance to wear. If you decide to accept what they are willing to give, you’ll save yourself some money, especially if they have clothing you would have bought.

7. Exchange Old Clothes for Cash

Sell the clothes your baby no longer fits into on eBay. eBay is just an example. There are many other ways to trade your old clothes for cash. You may not make as much as you had originally paid for them, however, you’ll at least earn some of your money back.

You are entering college, a new world. You have left everything that is familiar to you behind, including, your family, friends, and school, community and your dog and cat. You may be an hour away by car or six hours away by plane. You are feeling out of sorts, lonely, too much time on your hands, awkward, etc. Your roommates are not saying any of this out loud and neither are you.

You want to call home and tell your parents that you just made the biggest mistake of your life and they should get in the car immediately or send you a ticket to come home. However, as you look around at the upper classmen, they look like they are okay, have it all together, wow- they even have friends! You are determined to figure out what is going on with you. Why am I so homesick? you wonder.

The first thing I want you to know is that your feelings are 100% normal and that the majority of freshman are experiencing exactly the same thing that you are. I have put together for you a list of things you can do to feel better.

This is not a recipe, with each ingredient dependent on the other, rather these are choices you can make to make this huge transition into college life and get rid of the homesick blues.

Talk with your roommates about what you are feeling. Most likely they are feeling it, too.

Stay in touch with your family and friends, but not in place of college activities.

Write an email to a friend at another college and share your feelings, compare notes.

Do something you enjoy like, exercise, art, writing, reading, and taking a walk. Dont sit around your dorm

room alone waiting for life to happen.

Ask someone to go the cafeteria with you for a meal. No one wants to eat alone.

Try to eat in moderation (watch the junk food), get enough sleep (invest in a good set of earplugs) and watch your intake of alcohol and drugs, which can all act as depressants. (In your effort to take a break from your depressive thoughts, using drugs can throw you into even a more depressed mood.)

Give your self-time, dont put yourself down. You are entering a new phase of your life.

By themselves baby announcements are nothing more than a simple note to people that you’re having a baby.
