With baby showers, as with all important events, often the details can get in the way of the hosts enjoyment of the party! Dont let yourself get overwhelmed. Take it one step at a time and enjoy yourself. A baby is on the way and the baby shower is your welcome home gift. Answer these questions before you begin and your baby shower is sure to be a success.

Who Does What?

Assign tasks. Delegating duties will let you direct and handle mishaps rather than handle everything as well as mishaps. Of course, enlisting friends and family requires their agreement so ask them well in advance of the baby shower.

How Much Will You Spend?

Set aside a certain amount of money for each part of the baby shower and stick to it. Make sure your list is thorough and that your expected expenditures are realistic. Dont forget the paper plates and cups and napkins! Assigning others to bring things you need will help you cut down on baby shower expenses.

Whos Coming?

Ask the new parents who they want at their baby shower and get the addresses at least a month in advance. You will need addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. Get the invitations out no less than 3 weeks before the day of the baby shower.

Whats Your Theme?

1930s Flapper baby shower? Maybe a picnic in the park? Whatever you choose, make sure that your guests know what to expect.

What Food Will You Serve?

The food for your baby shower should reflect the theme, but make sure you choose something that the Mom to be likes. Pregnant women have aversions and cravings and catering to these is an essential aspect of the baby shower.

Where Should You Hold the Baby Shower?

Wherever you choose, it should be easy to find, comfortable for the number of guests youve invited and inexpensive to you.

When Should You Hold the Baby Shower?

Its the new moms choice! She may want to hold it in the middle of her pregnancy or wait until after the baby is born. When you pick a date and time, stick with it!

What Games Will You Play?

What prizes will you give away? What will you need so that all of your guests can play the games? Make sure you choose plenty of back up baby shower games in case things go a little too slow and need some livening up!

Why is it that a baby handprint picture might be right for you?

Since youre reading this article I guess that you have already done some initial thinking about creating a baby keepsake in the form of a baby handprint and maybe you have already created a few.

If youre still uncertain of what baby keepsake to create or even how to do it, I strongly recommend that you spend some time reading the articles and information at my site as there are a lot of things that youll need to consider before getting started.

It might save you some time and agony and make sure that you do it right the first time around.
The first time you think of creating a baby keepsake it might seem overwhelming to you. I agree that there are a lot of things that you need to consider but once you have structured the process it isnt a big task. It is pure fun most of the time in fact.

If you have already created the baby handprint in clay, mold, bronze or maybe a baby ink handprint on paper, then youre ready for the next step.

A baby handprint created in clay or any other material is a great way to keep a memory of your baby, but it is difficult to share with friends and family if then dont come around often.

Creating a baby ink handprint however, will have you ship the keepsake just as easily as if you had taken a picture of the baby handprint in e.g. clay.

One thing that you will have to make sure though, is that the ink you use has to be the right one and that the paper you put the baby handprint on is of the right quality. Otherwise youll risk loosing the keepsake in a matter of a few years and thereby loosing the special memory.

The best way to create an easy to ship baby keepsake thatll last for a long time is to take a picture of it. When you have created the handprint in either material you can easily do a baby handprint picture.

It doesnt matter whether you use a normal camera or a digital camera to take the picture. If you have both to choose from then I would recommend that you use the digital one as youre then able to edit the picture.

Taking great pictures of objects are not an easy task and therefore it might cost you a little time and a lot of photos to get it just right. Be sure to have enough light at the keepsake so that the baby handprint picture will show all the little details that makes it so special.

It’s often a challenge to decide just who to invite to your baby shower. What is the proper etiquette and how do you avoid hurting someone’s feelings?

When determining your guest list, it’s important to define your target group. Is it your idea to host the traditional women only gathering or will you include children? Today it’s becoming increasingly popular to invite couples and/or complete families.

When you decide on the type of shower you are going to be hosting make sure your invitations are precisely worded, such as “women only”, “children welcome” and so on based on your decision. If you are planning a specific theme make sure this is included on your invitations as well as any special instructions such as what to bring, how to dress, and directions to the party location. This will save you countless telephone inquiries regarding the specifics of your shower plans.

Always ask your invited guests to RSVP and keep in mind that typically about 20-25% of those confirming will ultimately fail to attend for a variety of reasons.

Baby Showers held at an office, social club or church have a pre-determined guest list of co-workers, club members or fellow church members but make sure that you find out if your shower is the only one being held for the mom to be. If it is, then you may want to extend invitations to her personal friends and family. It may take a bit of discreet probing to find out if there are additional showers planned.

Alternatively, if you are a friend or family member planning the only shower, it’s a thoughtful idea to make a call to the prospective mother to be’s employer to find out who should be invited from her workplace.

In most cases her husband should be able to supply contact information for her friends and work associates.

Don’t forget that if your shower is the sole party planned, you should extend invites to the mom’s family as well as her husband’s family.

Pregnancy and birth is such an exciting time, for expectant mothers and fathers, and grandparents too. It is a time in the parents life when everything is about to change forever. Many parents choose to welcome this time with announcing to friends and family of the newest addition to their lives.

Birth announcements are the best way for new parents to share their babys arrival. Depending on the couple, the birth announcement can be any type of style. Some choose gender specific announcements if the sex of the baby is known. Others choose to send a more generic baby birth announcement.

The baby birth announcement should reflect the personality of the parents as well. If it is a family just about to start out, the announcement should reflect this. If the family is welcoming another child, this can also be incorporated into the announcement.

The couple may also choose to have a baby shower in anticipation of the new addition. A shower is a great time to get together before the babys arrival to provide all the essential gifts for caring for baby. Baby showers can have number of themes. It can be a boy or girl themed baby shower, or can be themed around a favorite animal or story book character. This is a great time to prepare the nursery.

However the parents decide to welcome their new child into the world, it is a very special time. As the family grows, so does the love and care of those closest.

For many families with a new baby, christenings are a very special event in the childs life. Christenings are a deep and meaningful time for the family also, as the child enters the religious world of the family. Christenings are time when families choose to share the special event with their closest friends and family. The type of ceremony that occurs for a christening can vary from religion to religion, but the emotional bond created is felt the same for all.

Many parents will send christening invitations to friends and family for the event. There are a great variety of invitations available to mark the christening. Several factors to consider when ordering christening invitations include the theme or symbolic element that will be incorporated into the christening, as well as gender of the baby. There are many wonderful invitations for both boys and girls. Some ideas for themes are listed below.

There are a number of wonderful themes that can be incorporated into the christening. A cross is always an important element to mark the holiness of the event. Crosses symbolize the washing away of sins and profession of faith. Hearts are a wonderful theme to symbolize love. Baby feet are also a great element that can be incorporated into the theme. Flowers and floral designs are another great element, symbolizing new life.

Bright white is the traditional color used for christening invitations. The baby is usually dressed in a bright white christening gown to symbolize purity. Incorporating white into the invitations and decorations of the christening is the perfect way to have a beautiful christening. Other things to consider for a christening are matching party accessories and favors such as napkins with babys name and date of christening.

Christenings are a special and memorable event for the family of the child. It is perceived as the time when the child truly becomes a party of the religious family. Mark the event with a beautiful celebration considering the themes and accessories mentioned in this article.

How To Throw The Best Baby Shower In 3 Easy Steps

Heres a really simple way to throw the best baby shower possible and really wow your friends and family members. Throwing a winning baby shower shouldnt be more work than it needs to be. However, there are 3 steps to follow to the letter to ensure that the baby shower is special for everyone involved. Sticking to these 3 steps will make sure that your baby shower goes off without a hitch and that you can sleep in peace knowing that you did everything right.

1. Use balloons to greet your guests. Get some nice balloons and attach them to the outside of your door. Humans are fantastically simple creatures that can be easily entertained by a festive atmosphere. For a lot of people, balloons symbolize a party or some other great celebration. Balloons can be picked up relatively cheaply and always add a great touch to a baby shower. After all, whats a party without balloons? Pick some nice ones up and use em. People like balloons.

2. Use written invitations. We live in an age of internet connectivity and cell phones. This technology is incredible and can be really be handy. However, a paper invite is permanent. Your guests will save them for years to come in their scrap books. The souvenir value of written invitations is immense. A cell phone call or email cant really be saved, so spend the extra money and send out a decent paper invite. Youll be remembered an admired for sticking to your guns in an age of high tech gadgets.

3. The first two points are helpful, however, the most critical point to ensuring your baby shower is a success is knowing what not to do. Etiquette absolutely needs to come first. Poor etiquette will ensure that all your research efforts have been in vain and you could potentially ruin the party you worked so hard to prepare for. There is an entire list of dos and donts that you need to follow to the letter or your shower just wont work.

Choosing a baby shower theme is an important part of the baby shower planning process. A theme will tie the entire shower together and make it more organized.

When you have chosen a theme, you can easily think about what decoration you are going to use for your desired theme. Without a theme, you are likely to pick several items that you feel will look good, combine these, and get an unorganized look.

Selecting and preparing a baby shower theme is not a difficult task. Here are some suggestions to give you an idea on how to create a theme for your baby shower.

Teddy Bears

Since the teddy bear is one of the first toys the child will own, it is nice to have a teddy bear theme. You can use medium-sized teddy bears to design the baby shower party area. It is not necessary to buy the teddy bears; you can borrow these from friends and family members. Also, you can purchase small teddy bears as party favors to give to your guests.

Stars

Stars symbolize dreams. “A star is born,” they say. You can decorate the place with stars hanging from thin strings. You can also design the walls and the ceiling with stars and heavenly bodies. The program may also include wishes for the baby on how he or she will be a bright star.

Diapers

This is the basic need of the newborn baby. The baby shower organizer can decorate the area with diapers, especially those with cute colors and designs. You can even prepare a diaper cake by neatly stacking the diapers together.

The organizer can also ask the guests to bring diapers as gifts. A better idea would be to have a raffle for a special prize in which the raffle entry will be a diaper. This will help the guests since they wouldn’t have to think on what gift to buy. It also helps the parents a lot, since they will have a supply of diapers for several months.

Books

Baby and kid books are good gifts for the baby. With a collection of baby books, the parents can have a small library for the baby.

The decorations can be anything related to books. You can place books on the table, or design the walls with books. You can even have a book-shaped cake and cookies.

Noah’s Ark

This is a good idea if the parents are expecting twins. The guests will be requested to bring a pair of gifts for the babies. Pairs of stuffed animals may be used to decorate the place.

Prince/Princess

Everyone wants the new baby to feel like a prince or a princess. You can adorn the place with fairy tale concepts pertaining to royalty. You can create miniature towers and castles, a garden and shining stuff fit for a royalty.

Fairy

This is a good option if you will be having the baby shower in the garden. You can enhance the garden surroundings to make it look like the home of fairies. You can include vines, arches, bees and butterflies, as well as small fairy-like decorations to create a fairy garden.

Characters

You can choose a storybook or cartoon character as a theme. How about a superhero? There are lots of options, and once you have selected one, you can think about what items the character is associated with that you can use for the party.

With these simple ideas, you can conceptualize a special baby shower theme that will be remembered by the parents and the guests.

Game festivities are guaranteed to liven up and thrill the guests invited along to your baby shower party. Babys day should be fun filled action packed and full of laughter and a sure way for this to happen is when Baby Shower Games are in play.

You don’t have to be at a loose end when it comes to providing entertainment for the guest invites attending the baby shower party. One of the best options for additional fun is to play games.

Have your friends and family join in The Name Game

The start of this game is where you ask the players to write down two names for the baby then ask them to find as many words they can from their chosen names, the winner will be the player with the most names. Be sure to mention before play that words with less than three letters are not valid.
To make the name game even more exciting ask the guests to keep the names they chose a secret from the other entrants, the reason for this is because they will be given the opportunity to guess from the words made up what names were chosen at the beginning of the name game.

Feeding Time is another particular favourite, this is game where cotton balls are placed into a basin with another empty basin at the side,
Blind fold the players for this game who will then be prompted to transfer the cotton balls from one basin to the other with the aid of a spoon. Put a time limit on this game because this game is not as easy as it looks. The winner is the one with the most cotton balls moved.

Another unusual named game is the Rice Bowl but very popular at baby shower occasions.
Take a bowl fill it half-way with plain uncooked rice. Into the rice throw in safety pins (be careful with safety pins). Blind folded once again the guests task is to take turns in retrieving the pins.

Guess the Guest is a real fun game where guests are asked to bring a picture along of when they were a baby, On entrance to the baby shower celebration these photos will be handed to who ever is in charge of the entertainment scene. Participants in this game join in the fun by identifying the picture and putting the right face to the right person.

Baby Shower Games highlight the whole of the occasion adding fun and laughter. Most games entail being blind folded. A word of warning, to many of these baby shower games then you don’t get to see as much of the baby shower as you would like.

Getting ready for a new addition to the family is a very busy time. New or experienced parents would like nothing more for everything to go smoothly. However, there is a long list of tasks to complete before baby arrives. If parents want to share their excitement with friends and family, a baby birth announcement is one of the most important tasks to complete.

It may be difficult to decide the style of baby birth announcement to send out. One great idea is to choose a style that coordinates with your nursery. Lots of work has already gone into making the nursery ready for baby. Choose a similar style for the baby birth announcement and save time deciding on a theme.

Another great idea for the birth announcement is to include a photo-that is if the parents have time. It can be difficult to get a great picture and can take some time. It is important to be patient when taking pictures but eventually a shot worthy of the baby birth announcement will be taken. A photo taken with parents and new baby are a great way to share with everyone the new family entity. If it is too difficult or too time consuming to take a picture right after baby birth, send the announcement first and then send pictures at a later date.

There is a standard for what type of information should be included in the baby
birth announcement. First the parents names and then the new babys name should be included. Information about the baby that should be put in the announcement includes birthday, birth weight and height. This should all the information friends and family need to learn about the new baby.

It is important to remember that birth announcements are not a request for gifts. Gifts are something that should be taken care of with the baby shower before babys birth. However, some friends and family will send gifts, and may even send them before the announcements are sent. When ordering baby birth announcements, it is a good idea to order thank you notes that coordinate with the theme. This way the parents will be ready to send thank you notes when gifts arrive.

A new baby is such a happy and busy time. Choosing the right baby birth announcement is the perfect way to share the happiness with friends and family. For a wonderful selection of baby birth announcements and baby shower invitations, as well as thank you notes, visit Dependable Printing.

This is the time of year when the parents of many preschoolers must decide where their child will attend school in the fall. I wanted to take this opportunity to share my experience with Montessori preschool education.

My son is completing his second year in a Montessori preschool program and attended from the age of 3 1/2.

I chose Montessori for several reasons. First, my son is a bright, inquisitive child who already had a sound grounding in recognition of his alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors before he started preschool. I was worried that he might be bored in a more traditional preschool. Montessoris highly individual program means he is always challenged and interested. In addition, my son is a very active child and the Montessori program gives him lots of opportunity for free play outdoors and indoors as well as more freedom to move about, stand, or even lie on the ground while working on his lessons in the classroom.

In my opinion one of Montessoris great advantages is the fact that the child drives the educational experience. My sons interests and abilities determine his unique educational program and so his lessons may overlap but are not identical to those of his classmates. This makes him an eager and motivated student.

The education program offered by Montessori also includes many advantages. My sons experience includes the arts, math and science, language, and life skills. He regularly impresses our friends and family with his knowledge of science, sign language, and other areas not traditionally included in preschool programs.

I also like the fact that his classroom includes a wider range of ages so he has friends who are both younger and older. In addition, he really enjoys having regular contact with the elementary-age students who serve as both role models and friends.

Finally, as a parent, I cannot stress enough the benefits that a program like Montessori offers in terms of life skills. All students are expected to be responsible for their own personal hygiene as well as maintenance and cleaning of the classroom and food areas. While support is offered by adults and older children, even young children can learn to clean up after themselves. It has certainly had an impact on my sons willingness and ability to help out at home.

Recently I compared preschool experiences with a friend whose child is completing her second year in what most people consider to be the top preschool program in our community. We compared our childrens skills to the checklist provided by our school district of 60 skills (including cognitive skills, listening and sequencing skills, language skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and social/emotional skills) that will help children transition into kindergarten. My son has all 60 skills while her daughter lacked skills in each of the areas.

I recommend every parent at least consider Montessori for their child as it is a child-centered learning approach that can provide an excellent foundation for a childs future growth and learning.
